![]() When I first discovered these verses it changed my world. This is one of my favorite scriptures of all time. “26 In that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you 27 for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father…” The father in this story is a perfect reflection of God to His children, and this story is a must-have on Father’s Day. He didn’t hesitate to give him a kiss and hug on his return home and he never intended his son to slave away to earn back his place at the table. Though the son ran, and though the son practically spat on the face of his father, the father never stopped looking for the son. ![]() Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.Īs we see here, the father is neither disappointed nor ashamed of his son. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’Ģ2 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. ![]() “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with com passion for him he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.Ģ1 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. However, after the son squandered his small fortune away, this is what he said…ġ8 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. That is crazy! It was a dishonor to his father, and yet, the father gave it anyway. ![]() The fact that the son even asked for his inheritance was like telling his father that he wished he was dead. This inheritance was meant only after the father’s death. The part I want to focus on is after the prodigal son leaves home with his inheritance. It’s a great story that is an awesome representation of the biblical father. I believe nearly every pastor has a story from their ministry experience that can be related to the prodigal son. This story is beautifully told by Jesus, depicting the journey of two sons and a father. ” It is a story that almost all Christians and even a lot of non-Christians are familiar with. That way you and your children will be blessed with long life and abundant crops upon the ground the Eternal promised to your ancestors, for as long as there’s a sky above the earth. Make them the last thing you talk about before you go to bed and the first thing you talk about the next morning. Talk about them when you’re sitting together in your home and when you’re walking together down the road. Do whatever it takes to remember what I’m telling you: tie a reminder on your hand or put a reminder on your forehead where you’ll see it all the time, and on the doorpost where you cross the threshold or on the city gate. Let what I’m saying sink deeply into your hearts and souls. Love the Eternal your God and always obey His requirements, regulations, judgments, and commands. But if we learn to obey by being corrected, we will do right and live at peace. In fact, at the time it is always painful. But God corrects us for our own good, because he wants us to be holy, as he is. Isn’t it even better to be given true life by letting our spiritual Father correct us? Our human fathers correct us for a short time, and they do it as they think best. Our earthly fathers correct us, and we still respect them. Don’t all parents correct their children? God corrects all of his children, and if he doesn’t correct you, then you don’t really belong to him. Take them by the hand and lead them in the way of the Master.īe patient when you are being corrected! This is how God treats his children. Ephesians 6:4 (MSG)įathers, don’t exasperate your children by coming down hard on them. Colossians 3:21 (NKJV)įathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. What a pleasure to have children who are wise. The father of godly children has cause for joy. So the L ORD has compassion on those who fear him. Psalm 103:13 (NIV)Īs a father has compassion on his children, In return they are to be honored and obeyed by their children. According to the Dictionary of Bible Themes on Bible Gateway, fathers have a responsibility to love, instruct, and discipline their children in the ways of the Lord.
